Marvellous! I'm on my 24th audiobook of 2024 (yikes) and absolutely adore them. Only discovered/rediscovered last year. Have barely managed 2 books with my eyes, so I am entirely converted and find audio an utter joy 🖤

🖤🖤🖤 Aren't they just the best! Twenty four is so impressive! What's your favourite of this year been? I have a few - like Weathering is lovely to dip in and out of when walking and I recently download TJ Klune's Under the Whispering Door and I'm already loving the voice actor. I'm so glad to have 'rediscovered' them too :)

So many suggestions. For non fiction I loved Weathering too, and Kokoro by Beth Kempton. I am on a fiction binge this year though, for the first time in a while, and adored A Year Of Marvellous Ways by Sarah Winman, The List Of Suspicious Things by Jennie Godfrey, You Are Here by David Nicholls, Broken Light by Joanne Harris, and Someone Else's Shoes by Jojo Moyes. All beautifully written and perfectly read. Many with a hint of magical realism, which is my ultimate favourite, and some performed by multiple voices, so it's almost like a play in your ears!

These are such amazing suggestions! I loved Broken Light too - I heard Harris speak about it last year at Hay and loved hearing how she looked at menopause and decided to explore it as a super power. I’ve not read that one by Winman but I loved Still Life so will definitely give A Year of Marvellous Ways a go. Thank you for sharing - I think I know what I’ll be listening to in the coming weeks for sure now.

I love a good audiobook! Though rarely have time to listen to a whole book. That’s (one of) the reasons that I love the New Yorker fiction podcast. Various writers reading and chatting about short stories. Also, if you’re pressed for time, Pádraig Ó Tuama’s poetry podcast (Poetry Unbound) is gorgeous!

Oh that sounds like a lovely idea! I feel like I don’t read enough short stories and fiction podcasts - I did some of the classics like Alice Isn’t Dead and The Sandman but I would love to listen to more! Will check out the New Yorker one for sure. Likewise with poetry - I used to listen to a lot more but weirdly fell out of the habit until you mentioned this.
